February is American Heart Month. Hospital marketers can coordinate promotions of their heart disease prevention and treatment programs to help raise awareness and promote cardiovascular health in February.
Here are a few tips on how to promote your hospital or organization’s cardiovascular health programs:
Offer free or reduced cost health screenings and extended hours to make screening more accessible. Widen your community reach by offering screenings at local malls, colleges, or events. Offer giveaways at screenings such as hospital-branded totes or first-aid kits.
Use social media to promote awareness of your efforts. Create a landing page on your website dedicated to American Heart Month with information on heart health risk factors and lifestyle choices. During February, send out Tweets and post on Facebook and other social media outlets. Educate the public about your programs and relevant heart health issues.
Sponsor an event such as a family friendly 5K race, a community fundraiser, or a heart-healthy cooking demonstration at a local restaurant or grocery store. Offer a free health assessment or screening for registrants at the event, hand out materials and branded items during the event, or recruit a hospital representative to volunteer on the event board.
Offer online health assessments to determine an individual’s risk for heart disease or stroke. Heart health profilers can promote cardiology service lines by identifying at-risk consumers, providing them with personalized health information and calls-to-action, and initiating 2-way communication between your target market and your physicians. Our cardiology suite of Health Risk Assessments includes Heart Health, Stroke Risk, and Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) Risk. The health risk assessments provide the online resource needed to efficiently target and attract the right patients for your cardiovascular services.
