Since starting at Medicom Health as one of the newest members of the team, Adam Garvey’s love of working for a small company was confirmed since the beginning of the process.
In his role as Controller, Adam oversees the daily operations of the accounting department – ensuring accounts payable and receivable are paid and received in a timely manner, processing payroll, producing financial reports, maintaining an adequate system of accounting records, and ensuring the company’s financial results comply with industry accounting standards. He also assists our CFO with analysis, ad hoc reporting and special projects. He has quickly become a valued asset to all – providing support to both internal team members and clients alike.
After graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) in May of 2010 with degrees in both Accounting and Finance, Adam, started his professional career with RSM, LLP auditing clients across governmental, healthcare, not-for-profit and insurance industries. After 3 years in public accounting, he moved into the corporate world and joined the growing Internal Audit team at UnitedHealth Group, spending the better part of a year testing internal control compliance over financial reporting across multiple business segments. In the fall of 2014, when his family relocated to Milwaukee, WI, Adam joined a small healthcare software company called API Healthcare. While excited to begin his new endeavor with a small company, it was announced that API Healthcare was acquired by GE Healthcare shortly after he began. Over the next five years, Adam held several accounting roles within GE Healthcare before being promoted to the US Payroll and Travel Manager where he oversaw all operational accounting process related to payroll and travel, while managing a team of five.
Once Adam began to look for a new opportunity outside of GE Healthcare, the job description for this position at Medicom Health grabbed his attention right away. It gave him the same excited feeling he had just before starting at API Healthcare, so he jumped at the opportunity.
When asked what the best part of his job is, the response was simple! “Easy, the people. I’ve been with Medicom Health for only a few months, but it feels more like a family than a business. My desire to work for a small company is because of the opportunity to form personal relationships with everyone in the company.”
Adam lives in Waconia, MN with his wife Laura, their 3-year-old daughter Charlotte, almost 2-year-old son Easton and their 4-month-old puppy Hank.

Going to Brunch – What’s Your Go to Order?
Can’t get enough eggs, bacon/sausage, and French Toast. I’ll add yogurt or fruit if there is room on the plate.
Cat or Dog?
Dog for sure. In the seven years my wife and I have been together, we have had two Boxers. The first one was Duke, and now we have Hank. Boxers are fearless, intelligent, energetic, loyal, stubborn, playful, and most important, great with children. Fun fact: The record for “Longest Tongue on a Dog,” belonged to a boxer named Brandy. The Gene Simmons of dogs had record-breaking tongue that spanned an impressive 17 inches.
