What is a Tag Manager?

Tags are little snippets of code that enable services like Google Analytics, Ad platforms, and reporting systems. Tags need to be added to websites to support:

  • Analytics systems
  • Remarketing
  • Conversion tracking
  • Affiliate tracking
  • Customer insight systems

In order to simplify the process of routinely changing out the snippets of code for a website based on whatever services you are using at any given time, Tag Manager systems were created. Instead of having to constantly update all of the website pages, you just include one tag manager code snippet and then use the tag manager website to manage all of your different code snippets for different services and campaigns.
