In case you have not heard, Medicom Health has been acquired by Eruptr! This post is a bit of what brought us to this day and this bold new direction. (Click here if you are looking for the official press release, or here for information on special pricing and discounts for our joint solutions)
It is hard to believe that Barb Goergen and I started Medicom Health over 20 years ago. Initially we were a small, passionate group of custom developers creating online and CD-ROM-based digital health awareness tools for the largest pharmaceutical companies and national medical associations. Many of those tools were health assessments for chronic conditions that were not too different from what we do today.
Over time, our little think tank developed 300+ wide-ranging projects in-house. Soon, health systems took notice of our high-profile, award-winning work and began asking for similar tools. One that garnered a lot of attention was an assessment for the American Heart Association featured in a 2007 Super Bowl commercial. But to help health providers as they were requesting, with the budgets they had, we had to draw upon our years of custom assessment experience and lots of creativity.
What we ended up with was the first flexible, white-labelled SaaS platform for non-clinical health assessments. It allowed us to rapidly develop feature-rich products, yet keep the price-points palatable. We left custom development for good and fully embraced helping health system marketing.
More than ten years on, we are still the acknowledged leaders in the space. Our feature-rich 3rd-gen platform is High Trust Certified, and includes 20+ assessments, and a powerful back-end portal that integrates with our clients most popular mar-tech tools. Over a thousand of hospitals use our technology to engage and activate a million consumers each year.
I’m very proud of what we have built over the years, but we grew to recognize that HRAs are really best if paired with careful promotional efforts and effective follow-up, which was not expertise we possessed. It was also time for an infusion of fresh thought, broader experience, and new ideas.
And so, we’ve joined forces with Eruptr, the leaders in paid search & social marketing for health systems. Under their ownership, we will continue to operate as the Medicom Health you know, but have access to greater resources, deeper marketing integration, and importantly– world-class promotional capabilities.
For now, it is important to mention that there will be few outward changes. We retain pretty much the same team and I’ll still run things here. But over time we will start announcing synergistic joint offerings that radically expand on our current capabilities.
And so a new era begins. I am confident the Eruptr family of companies is the perfect home for our continuing efforts and my fantastic team. Like us, Eruptr is capable and passionate about serving healthcare marketers’ needs.
I’ve known Eruptr’s founders and key personnel for years, and have always respected the organization, the family they have built. Past Medicom Health employees have found a home here and have helped make our transition very smooth. All of us are proud to be part of this family now.
