HRAs Can Increase Seasonal Bandwidth for Ortho

At this time of year, you might be looking for ways to increase seasonal bandwidth for ortho services due to a spike in demand. Not surprisingly, people see the sun and want to feel able-bodied enough to enjoy it. However, finding out “the soonest appointment is 5 weeks out” isn’t exactly what they are hoping to hear.

How Can HRAs Help Increase Seasonal Bandwidth for Ortho?

For example, our Back/Neck and Knee/Hip HRAs segment users by severity. Using the Management Portal, you can set different “recommended next steps” for each group. In doing so, you filter patients into appropriate levels of care, taking account your available bandwidth.

Example: Knee/Hip Pain Assessment

Based on the Oxford Knee and Hip Scoring system, our HRA assesses severity of pain, current level of function and personal history to determine if the user is at Severe, Moderate, Mild or Unimpaired risk for quality of life impact.

With our risk-based calls-to-action and follow-up emails, direct those with typical or early-stage aches and pains away from booked surgeons. Maybe a physical therapist  or sports medicine trainer has the capacity for new patients. This helps the surgeon operate “at the top of their license.” People are seen at the right level and in a more expedited manner.  All of this leads to improved patient satisfaction. Everybody wins!

You can also send automatic email Notifications to nurse navigators. They can access the results for Moderate and Severely impaired users and call them to confirm they are on the most efficient care pathway.
