Recent online articles allege that Facebook tracks and collects PHI information on healthcare provider websites via the Meta Pixel. Facebook refutes these claims.
Importantly, while accommodating their use, Medicom Health does NOT directly use Meta Pixels in our HRA technologies or services by default.
Unless you have specifically implemented Meta Pixels in tracking Facebook promotions to our health risk assessments, you have nothing to worry about.
If you ARE using Meta Pixels with our HRAs, we recommend you and/or your vendors carefully review the configurations and consider disabling Automatic Advanced Matching.
NOTE: We are researching ways to automatically isolate and insulate Meta Pixels and other third-party code snippets such that they cannot send sensitive data regardless of configuration, to protect you from accidental mistakes. Stay tuned for more information on this safeguard.
On a related note, while not necessary, if you have utilized any optional custom code snippets in your HRAs via our Google Tag Manager settings or our Custom Code feature, this is a great time to review that code.
Please feel free to reach out to us with questions or concerns.
P.S. – We were amazed at how innocuous the description for this feature is in the pixel configuration settings:
