Marketing Opportunity: Weight-Loss Resolutions

Marketing Opportunity: Weight-Loss Resolutions

New Year’s Weight-Loss Resolutions

New Year’s weight-loss resolutions are an opportunity to engage patients with your health system. When Americans celebrate, we eat. A lot. According to Associated British Foods, an average American will eat nearly 7,000 calories while celebrating the big day. Unfortunately, with that overload will come regret. Later, that will fuel New Year’s weight-loss resolutions.

Obesity

It’s estimated that less than 10% of Americans who establish a New Year’s weight-loss resolution achieve their goal. Yet, according to the CDC, more than one-third of American adults are obese. Consequently, this is an opportunity for healthcare providers to engage with those health care consumers. Your hospital can help them along their weight loss journey, or intervene in potential conditions resulting from obesity. You just have to connect with them, first.

Tactics

Here at Medicom Health, we want to help our clients capitalize on this opportunity. We can foster an efficient, online relationship with potential patients. Our weight-related health risk assessments (HRAs), specifically the Healthy Weight-Range assessment and Weight Loss Surgery assessment, achieve some of the highest patient acquisition rates of our HRA product line. They have led to impressive ROI for a handful of clients.

Healthy Weight-Range Assessment

Promoting our Healthy Weight-Range assessment on Facebook, via direct mail, and through paid search over the holidays, can engage consumers who may be contemplating a new health kick. Our assessments collect consumer health data and contact information. This allows you to deliver them targeted information about your medical and surgical weight loss programs, healthy living content, fitness centers, and other resources where most appropriate. This Assessment has seen a 39% completion rate this year. Fifty-eight percent of consumers have been overweight. This provides an opportunity our clients to engage that population around an important top of mind health issue.

Weight-Loss Surgery Assessment

Similarly, to promote Bariatric procedures, many clients opt to also use our Weight-Loss Surgery assessment. An impressive 68% of consumers who take the assessment are recommended for surgery. Actually, we’ve heard ROI reports of nearly 40% conversion. This assessment allows consumers to explore a very sensitive health issue in the comfort of their own home. Therefore, it could provide them with an important next step towards surgery, should they need it. Plus, coupled with our SocialConnect service (Facebook promotions), this tool could be a fantastic New Year’s weight-loss resolution campaign.

Next Steps

In conclusion, weight management, weight loss, and New Year’s weight-loss resolutions all go hand in hand. The team here at Medicom Health is eager to help you get an HRA campaign up and running around the topic!

With the first deployment of the Heart Health Profiler, I knew proving ROI was going to be important. Calculating ROI in the healthcare industry has its challenges, especially when working with multi-channel campaigns. Regardless, I was able to prove significant ROI for our Medicom Health Heart Health Risk Assessment in just 2 months.
